Hosted by the midwives at Six Nations, Ohseweken, ON
For the first time, NACM’s Gathering included a day open to Aboriginal Leadership, from First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities, to come and learn more about midwifery directly from midwives (Nov. 7th). Presentations by Aboriginal midwives working in diverse communities were given. Keynote addresses were given by Dr. Don Wilson, the first Aboriginal Obstetrician/Gynecologist in Canada and Katsi Cook, Aboriginal midwife. An evening program, including dinner and entertainment, closed the day. The day was attended by over 50 Aboriginal Midwives and students and approximately 40 guests from Aboriginal communities across Canada.
